This will be the second of a series of conferences after the first edition held in Frascati in October 2002. Each conference focuses on one topic, selected from among the most lively subjects in nuclear and sub-nuclear physics, astrophysics, mathematics, theoretical physics, earth science, instrumentation, electronics, computing, and others. The conference will consist of plenary sessions devoted in part to invited talks by senior scientists and in part to selected presentations by young researchers, and a poster session. Each year special awards and credits will be given to relevant contributions presented at the workshop by young researchers. An additional mission of the series is to convey the importance of the field identified as a frontier in modern science to the general public. This will be accomplished through dedicated lectures and web pages aimed towards the general public.

The second conference is dedicated to complexity in its interdisciplinary aspects. Emphasis is on the unifying concepts and methods used in the study and simulation of complex systems in different fields.

The main areas of interest are: particle physics and astrophysics, condensed matter and quantum optics, life sciences, geophysics and meteorology, complex networks and econophysics. The program will also include a public lecture (in Italian) on complexity aimed to convey the importance of this year's topic to a general audience.
