Synopsis

Transverse Momentum Dependent (TMD) Parton Distributions and Fragmentation functions have attracted strong interests from both the experimental and theoretical sides in the last years. As a generalization of the usual Feynman parton distributions, these functions represent multi-dimensional images of the distribution of partons in the nucleons in momentum space. They are also strongly correlated with generalized parton distributions. Together, they will build a complete tomography picture for partonic structure inside nucleon. In addition, it has been shown TMD physics are closely related to many fundamental properties of QCD, such as factorization and non-trivial universality of parton distribution and fragmentation functions. There have been rapid developments in this field, theoretically and experimentally. We believe it is very timing to organize a meeting to gather all experts in this community to exchange their ideas and interact with each other. The TMD2010 workshop will focus on latest developments, to review and discuss the current theoretical status and the latest experimental results. The interactions between theorists and experimentalists should be important for identifying and discussing key observables, and so to shape the further program with transverse polarization.
